Egg thief by WarrenJB Egg thief by WarrenJB
An idle doodle I added a couple of bits to. Protoceratops andrewsi and Oviraptor philoceratops. But which one is the egg thief? Subversive, man... :P

Uh, with a headcrest like that, this Dinosaur isn't Oviraptor, it was probably a species of Citipati (Oviraptor was likely a crestless Oviraptorosaur). It still a great drawing :D

I imagine both species would be omnivorous, just one having a preference for animal matter while the other prefered vegetable matter.

On Mark Witton's Flickr gallery? ;)

I think eggs are pretty conservative and a safe bet in the imagery of ceratopsian omnivory. I imagine the Protoceratops going back and having a go at the Oviraptor too, though.

I like ceratopsians in general (thanks Peter Dodson), but there's something about Protoceratops, especially if you imagine it as a spunky little ball of aggro and Napoleon complex. I've got a lot more Protoceratops sketches and drawings in me, some of them eating stuff they shouldn't be eating. Or should they?

sounds like a pretty valid Theory, especially for Protoceratops, i mean living in a harsh desert, it must of had no choice but to mix it up

Awesome sketch. Hadn't actually thought of that before. Neat idea!
